I truly believe in helping people from whatever point they may be at in their life, within the system they come from, and with whatever tools they bring to the table. I am a strong advocate of listening without judgment and see teaching as a mutual responsibility.
My background is based within helping with substance abuse recovery, working in an inner city heroin detox facility utilizing holistic devices, such as acupuncture, detoxification teas and reflexology. Since then, I have provided counseling to people suffering from addictions in various settings including outpatient, inpatient crisis, halfway houses, as well as within correctional facilities. I also have a great deal of experience with people living and coping with mental health issues, HIV/AIDS and brain injury. In addition, I have worked with students within high school as well as college coping with life and life transitions.
Experience has taught me that life is a changing path and that people have choices throughout their journey. It is in the making of these choices where help is sometimes needed and appreciated.
